a quick update

here's a link to a new shins song that'll probably be on the new record (according to james mercer at a 1/7/06 show down under). decent quality, and a nice preview to what is one of the most anticipated releases of 2006.

half-ass fridazed

just in from the east quad music co-op's first big show of the semester. it's a really cool venue in the east quad basement on chuch street. the house was rocked by tyvek, the avatars & the hard lessons. there are some great shows coming up in the next few months, i'd highly recommend takin a few hours out of your friday night and checking it out.

i only got to see the last half of the hard lessons, but the half-ass inn was packed and it seemed like everyone was having a great time. i only wish i might've started coming to these shows earlier. props to jenn and crew for a very successful night.

since the forecast looks snow-less and gloomy for the annual mlk ski weekend up north, there might be a need to find other entertainment(s) this coming weekend. let's take a look at some great opportunities if trout creek falls through:

friday: contemplate ways to make more $ to buy the scrumpscious new macbook.

saturday: movie catch up marathon: glory road, hoodwinked, last holiday, the libertine. eh, hostel it is.

sunday: we are scientists @ the magic stick!

monday: arrested development marathon?

i can do better than this.

today was the first daily arts meeting of the new year. that means new subeditors, associate editors and me. no, i'm not new, just the only senior writer still there who hasn't really moved on or "graduated" from the daily. patterns?

anywho, it'll be an interesting and fertile semester for music reviewing for myself and the rest of the daily artsies. check out the way i started the year off right with a review of the strokes' flawed masterpiece first impressions of earth
