dawn of the lucas :: mature edition

after a sneak peek during last night's 60 minutes , everybody's wondering whether or not the mpaa will smack star wars III: revenge of the sith, with a pg-13 rating. ol' lucas says it's the darkest yet, complete with violent saber fights and hellish imagery. though a "13" would be ground breaking for the saga, does it really make a difference? is lucas after one last hurrah (or fuck you) to the legions of rabid nerdy kids and film buffs? does anakin's turn to the dark side really neccessitate blood red and soot black color themes? the answer, good friends, is yes. to everything. a resounding yes.

don't worry about the 'pg' ratings streak. star wars fans (and those who pretend to be) the world over will still fork over $9.25 apiece to the lucas empire. other trilogies have non-uniform mpaa ratings, just look at major league collection (i know that this is a weak example of a trilogy). major league (r), major league ii (pg), and major league iii: back to the minors (pg-13, which, in my opinion might be one of the worst movies ever made).
